Some Hooks
"You know, when I was little my most favorite spot in the world was this cliff I used to fish on. Since the calamity, it's all but vanished."
Courier Work
L'aska owns a post office just on the border between The Shroud and Gyr Abania. Running a route from Ala Mhigo all the way down to Southern Thanalan. With her other couriers making their route across Eorzea!
Devout of Menphina
Love, like the moon, has many forms and phases. L'aska tries to embody love in all its facets, mirroring her chosen goddess. A worship she'd inherited from her father.
Family Oriented
L'aska lives in what was once a Garlean barracks that has been transformed into a temple of Rhalgr with her partner and adopted xaela son, Davaa.

CW: CSA, Sexual Assault, Stalking, Kidnapping, and Familial LossL'aska's story isn't a pleasant one. Reader discretion is advised.

A Miqo'te At Sea
11 years before the Calamity. A gathering of miqo'te belonging to the 'L' tribe find themselves at the mercy of Garlean slavers. Made to work a fishing vessel, poaching all along Eorzean waters and then docking right back in Ilsabard. That's how it was supposed to go, how it had gone before. This was L'aska's first voyage and escape from the frigid North at 7 years old. Made to do small tasks for the Garlean officers. Fetching water, delivering parcels to crew, and unfortunately, assisting her mother in servicing their captors. Her mother, L'ydra tried to shield her from as much of it as she could. Though, even that was done in futility. Despite being born a boy, L'aska was quite the feminine child. Something that made her a target in the eyes of malicious men. These awful memories, though, would fade, overshadowed by what came next.A mutiny. Hope at long last! With their Garlean captors now overboard, the miqo'te were making quick work of sailing onward towards La Noscea. But they never made it. Boarded by Sahagin. Each member aboard sacrificed, killed, and worse. All to summon the Whorleater. Except it went wrong somehow. The last and final battery, L'aska hadn't tempered and become enthralled. So much water aether in her that it made her violently ill.Sweats, crying, vomiting and releasing water wherever there was a hole. It was torture. Far and above worse than anything she had experienced or would since. The cusp of tempering, riding the edge of life. The Sahagin took it as an omen that they had failed their god, comitting ritualistic suicide, leaving L'aska the sole survivor aboard.Surviving off hardtack and what grog remained, her boat was eventually found by The Silver Coeurl. A rescue vessel with the Knights of Barracuda, and Captain Taihm as her captain.Captain Taihm'ir Saihl was a Keeper of the Moon who'd fled tribe life to become a sailor. A man of unbridled justice with a heart pure as the silver he wore.He took L'aska in, adopting her as his then-son. Trying to treat her water sickness, hoping one day to avoid seeing her fully turn. Whilst teaching her everything he knew. From shooting, to sailing.Taihm stayed with her up until she was 16 when he perished after investigating a nefarious trafficking ring. Passing down his infamous revolver that he'd gotten during his privateering days off of a dead Garlean officer to L'aska herself.

Vengeance in Aldenard
Her father dead, and at the hands of someone who worked for one Nikolas Quinn. On paper, an upstanding Brass Blades captain. A pugilist with the capacity to turn himself hard as steel. Something he used to great effect in his rise to power within his niche of the criminal underworld.Unbeknownst to L'aska, a party of adventurers were more than a few steps ahead of her. Using Quinn's very own daughter to thoroughly dismantle the trafficking empire which spanned Eorzea.L'aska was following a trail of corpses that led her to an already finished altercation with the man who was quickly taken into Ishgardian custody since his final battle transpired in Coerthas.Later dying in custody due to "mysterious circumstances" L'aska was left without closure. Still bitter and rotten from it all.She followed the party back to Thanalan, down alleys and streets. Quinn's daughter had split off, her involvement with the adventurers done. She didn't make it home that night.Kidnapped by L'aska, so sure of herself that if she could just pull that trigger and get revenge for everything she'd just been through, it would all be okay. But she couldn't. Any pressure she wanted to put on the trigger immediately leaving her. She would leave that night no happier, now knowing she didn't have the guts to take a life.
